Snow Days
20+ Inches of snow in one week is too much for me. At least it wasn't over 20 inches in one day like it was 2 years ago, so we had a couple of days in between snows to get out of the house but we are ready for spring now after all this snow here at the Ogles house. We did everything that a person can do out in the snow...we went sledding, we decorated a snowman, we dug in the snow, and we had snowball fights. Caden is much more into playing out in the snow than Avery Lynn is. She really likes the idea of playing in the snow, she gets excited to get dressed and go out but after about 5 minutes she is ready to go back inside. Caden would gladly play for hours. It worked out great one day when we went in the back yard to play in the snow. Caden just dug and dug with (sand) toys in the snow and played on the swing set and threw snow balls at Lilly. Avery Lynn played on the porch with the Cozy Coupe Car and balls. She was happy and so was he.
A look out our garage when I opened the door. There was over 12 inches on the driveway at this time.

Ricky called Avery Lynn's sled her recliner. She liked sitting in it and watching Caden more than sledding herself.

Princess/Pirate Party
Last time we were in Cape we went to Chick-fil-A for dinner and to join in the fun of their Pirate/Princess Party. Caden dressed up as a pirate and Avery Lynn dressed as a princess. See funny story about the princess costume below. The kids had a great time.
Notice in the picture below (which is taken before we left to go to Chick-fil-A) Avery Lynn is wearing a little pink tiara. My mom and sister got it for her and it was a cute addition to her dress. She is not wearing it in the picture above taken with the cows which was taken later at the restaurant. Here is why.... Well we were eating and (newly potty trained) Avery Lynn had to go to the bathroom which is a very common occurrence so I took her to the bathroom. The automatic toilet flushed as I was getting her tights off (which commonly happens) and a minute later she is on the toilet ready to go. Then she begins to pee and looks down to see herself peeing (which is also very common since she is new at going potty on the potty) however she doesn't normally have a tiara on....The tiara falls off and into the

Happy 2nd Birthday Avery Lynn
We celebrated Avery Lynn's 2nd birthday on January 11th by going to Suson Park in St. Louis on our way to Cape. It was a very fun place to visit, there is a farm in the park and we got to see horses, a donkey, cows, pigs, chickens, goats, ducks, a peacock, and probably more that I am forgetting. It was awesome weather to walk around and check out all the animals. The kids had a blast. Avery Lynn enjoyed choosing what we had for dinner that night (she choose pizza) and she loved having us sing her happy birthday at each meal and for her cupcake that night. As well as at her birthday party the following day (and each time we ate leftover birthday cake for the following week : ) She loved the attention this year of everyone watching her and singing to her. She had a Minnie Mouse birthday party on Saturday in Cape and had fun celebrating with family and some friends.
2 year update:
Avery Lynn did great at her 2yr check-up. She let the doctor do everything he needed to do without any trouble. She didn't even cry when she got her one shot! She made a sad face but then it was over and she recovered. She weighed 22 lbs 11oz (5th percentile). She was 34.5in long (around 75th percentile). Her head circumference was 49.25in (95th percentile).
-Speech: She talks up a storm. She uses multiple words together, routinely making sentences (maybe not completely proper grammar but sentences non-the-less).
-Sleep: She sleeps routinely 11 hrs at night and naps during the afternoon for about 2.5 hrs.
-Food: She eats everything we eat and drinks whole milk. She is a great eater...just like her brother.
-Movement: She runs, climbs, and jumps just like every other two year old. While she may have been slow to start moving she makes up for it now and doesn't slow down much.
-Behavior: She is all 2. She wants to be very independent now. She can be Very stubborn (No clue where that comes from : ) She is wanting to play with other kids (and definitely with Caden) more and more now. Instead of playing alongside kids she is now wanting to be a part of what they are playing or doing. She is much more social now than she was a year ago.
-Other Fun Facts: She is doing great with Potty Training. We are now only wearing diapers at nap and at bedtime! Her favorite places to go in town are to story time at the Library and to church. She loves playing with her babies.
She is a happy little girl and we love her so much!

Christmas Photos
Here are some pictures that I got of the kids when they were dressed up for various holiday things in December.
For some reason Avery Lynn thought she should hug Caden in this picture. At least he's smiling!

The Magic Tree 2012
We always try to get some fun photos from the Magic Tree. We decided to go on a night that wasn't absolutely freezing this year so everyone isn't bundled up as much as usual but the kids loved seeing the lights and it was a fun evening. They also had a tree done in all blue lights which Ricky took advantage of and captured some cool (maybe spooky) pictures of us looking through the tree trunk. So the blue pictures are from that tree. Enjoy!

Christmas Program
Caden's LODO Christmas Program. His class sang Silent Night and Rudolph. They are a bunch of very loved kids, you can see all the flashes going off as they are singing. There were lots of pictures taken as well as videos. : )

Santa Success!
We made it to see Santa this weekend. Believe it or not, both kids sat on Santa's lap and nobody cried! This is the first year that Caden has sat on Santa's lap (well except the first year when he was a baby). The other two years he said he was going to and then we he walked up to Santa he quickly decided he just wanted to stand next to him. Last year Avery Lynn screamed while sitting on Santa's lap while Caden stood next to Santa with his hand on Santa's leg. But this year both kids sat down and nobody cried. Success! I don't think Caden stopped talking the entire time. (Which isn't really that surprising.) He rattled off everything he could think of to tell Santa he wanted...except when I asked him what he told him he told me he couldn't think of anything so he just told him a couple of things. But we could hardly get his attention to take a picture because he was talking talking talking. Avery Lynn wasn't quite as talkative, but Caden swears she told Santa she wanted a princess. I don't know if she really said that but Caden says she did. Typically when I asked her what she was going to tell Santa she wanted she would just tell me she wanted Santa. Anyhow, here are the pics.
