Tons of Trucks

Our Parks and Recreation held their annual Tons of Trucks Night last night and it was a blast! It was held in a big parking lot in a city park. There were all kinds of big trucks (everything from school buses, police cars, fire engines, tractors, dump trucks, etc.) for the kids to drive, sit and play in. More or less it was an evening of kids running wild honking horns and sirens going off. Needless to say Caden thought it was awesome. We had to park far away so the whole way walking up he kept saying WOW! because he could hear the horns and sirens. He loved it even more when we got close enough to actually see the trucks. Then today for playgroup we toured a local Fire station where he got to get in a firetruck again. What fun!
First time on a school bus. The boy loves his school buses. He can spot them anywhere. In fact he spotted this one from the road as we where coming into the park.

Before and After

We have been doing some projects around the house. I think it is because we have had to stay inside the past few months so we have found stuff to keep us busy. We knew we wanted to update the kitchen appliances when we bought the house so that had been on our To-Do List. We decided to take on that with our tax refund money so after much searching we finally found some that we liked and would work in our kitchen. I also made some drapes for the living room. We found material we liked but couldn't find curtains already made so I decided that I could probably do it and I DID! So that has been our two main things we have done to the house lately. Here are some before and after pictures.
The Kitchen as it looked for the previous owners.

This is our living room before the curtains. Actually you can see Ricky had already hung one curtain rod.

Keeping Busy

We are more than ready for it to be Spring so we can get outside and play. We have found lots of fun things to do in Columbia during the winter months but Caden is more than ready for more outside time. He loves slides right now so I think that parks are going to be a big hit this spring/summer. We have been able to make it to the neighborhood park a couple of times in the last week or so and he has had a blast. The only thing is we can't stay for too terribly long because it isn't really that warm yet. We are hoping some warmer weather is coming soon. Here are some pictures that are from the last month or so of fun things we have been doing indoors. Hopefully we will have some outdoor pictures to share soon.
Caden loves playing with his stuffed animals right now. He likes to move them all into the rocking chair in his room and then climb up in the chair with them. Sometimes he can even be found reading them a book.

He did this one morning when he first got up and I went to get the camera to take a picture. When I turned the camera on he said "Cheese" so that was also funny. So here he is saying cheese for his picture to be taken.

I love spaghetti!

And Corn on the Cob! What took you all so long to give me this?

A few weeks ago we went to a Parents as Teachers Event on Saturday morning. They had lots of fun activities for the kids to run around and do.

Fishing with Daddy.

Crawling through the tunnel.

Playing with balloons. It looks like really he is just taking balloons from others.

At the Mall - Sliding at the Kids Play Area

There is a gymnastics place up here that has open gym every couple of weeks for toddlers/preschool age. We went a few weeks ago and Caden had a blast.

Hair Cut #1

Caden's bangs had gotten way too long. They were in his eyes, and they were starting to bother him. It was time to at least trim the bangs. I didn't necessarily want to cut all of his hair since the curls in the back are cute. Being the person that I am I decided I could snip his bangs a little and not go through the drama of taking him somewhere and making him sit still to have his bangs cut and pay someone to snip like 3 times. So Sat. morning I decided to take on the challenge. I put him in his highchair in front of the tv with a sucker and we were good to go. He did well (not that it took very long) and it turned out better than I expected. I don't think I'll start beauty school, but I guess I can cut my kids bangs every once in a while.

Hiding / No More Pictures!

Caden has discovered that he can hide from people and this is his new fun game. He now thinks that if he covers his eyes that you can't see him. Which is not really true but cute non-the-less. So many times his hiding place consists of standing next to a piece of furniture with his eyes covered...but he's hiding. Sometimes he does better and he is actually out of immediate sight. To go along with this he has decided that he no longer wants his picture taken. As soon as he hears me turn on the camera or he sees the camera he runs to hide (which always includes covering his face). So taking pictures of him recently has been a challenge. Here is what I've captured.
